CS11 – Genentech Avoids Obsolescence by Upgrading Legacy TFF Skids with PlantPAx Platform

Tom Brown – Sr. Project Engineer, Banks Integration Group
Tim Brown – Senior Engineer, Genentech

Monday – 2PM – 3PM
Tuesday –  10:15AM – 11:15AM

Considered the founder of the industry, Genentech, now a member of the Roche Group, has been delivering on the promise of biotechnology for over 35 years.  With its long running success, the original manufacturing plant in South San Francisco has some of the oldest automation systems within its network.  Working with Banks Integration, the company designed, engineered, and validated the upgrade of two of its legacy TFF skids that are currently used in commercial manufacturing.  By utilizing components of Rockwell’s PlantPAx for Life Sciences (FactoryTalk View SE, FactoryTalk Batch, and latest ControlLogix architecture) Genentech has been able to avoid obsolescence and standardize their install base as well as pave the way for future upgrades.
